Public Transport Directions


Catch the 407 - Bóthar an Chóiste buses, from Eyre Square (bus details).

NB:  The closest of these places is 10 minutes walk from Eyre Square.

After the bus leaves Eyre Square, it goes past Brown Thomas (large department store) and the the Franciscan Church (large pillars at the front).   It then turns sharp right at the traffic lights, and proceeds into the Woodquay area (with many car-parking spaces in the middle of the road on the right).

For the Black Box Theatre and The Plaza, get off at the first bus stop (just after the parking area).  Walk up Headford Rd to the traffic lights.  Turn left into Dyke Rd for the Black Box, or cross the road to the right for The Plaza.

For Galway Retail Park and Galway Shopping Centre, get off at the following bus-stop, which is just after McDonalds in the Retail Park.

Get off at the the following bus stop, which is after the roundabout (AKA the "magic roundabout") for:
  • Dunnes Stores Shopping Centre (on the right across from the bus stop)
  • Terryland Retail Park (on the right, a little further up the road)
  • Pillo Hotel (previously the Marriot Hotel) (on the right, at the next intersection), and
  • Lisbrook House (across the road at the next roundabout, entry is from the side-street)
Get off at the stop after the next roundabout for the Menlo Park Hotel and Apartments, Castlelawn Shops, Terryland Graveyard/Cemetery.  The hotel is just acorss the road.  (NB to catch the bus back into town from here, either board at the same stop, or cross Headford Rd and go to the stop outside Dunnes Stores)

For Eamonn Deacy (previously Terryland) Stadium, either
  • Walk down Dyke Rd (as for the Black Box), or 
  • Get off at the Galway Retail Park bus stop and walk over the Qunicentennial Bridge - about 2/3 of the way across there are steps down to Dyke Rd
The stadium is further up Dkye Rd, under the bridge and past the water treatment plant.
